  • ASEAN and the Europeans: Facing up to the Challenges of Climate Change

    To support and facilitate the dynamics of negotiations to reach a global agreement at the end of 2015 COP21, the French Regional Delegation for cooperation with ASEAN in partnership with Asia Centre, the Embassy of France Vietnam and the ASEAN Secretariat, organized a round table on "ASEAN and the Europeans: Facing up to the Challenges of Climate Change " in Hanoi November 12, 2014.This roundtable brought together representatives members of the ASEAN countries, European partners (UK, GIZ, BTC, AFD ...) and international institutions (UNDP).

  • France supports regional co-operation on ‘Influenza-like illness’

    From the 17th to the 21st of November, the Institut Pasteur based in Ho Chi Minh City is organizing a training workshop to be attended by numerous participants from ASEAN countries and beyond. With the financial support of the French Embassy in Vietnam, through the ASEAN regional co-operation budget, this workshop is a great opportunity of knowledge sharing and public policies evolution. Indeed, new pathogens outbreaks (such as the coronavirus in the Middle-East or the new strain of avian flu, H7N9, in China) or outbreaks of already well known pathogens, such as the Evola virus in West Africa, show the importance to remain committed to fight infectious diseases.

  • The Asian Institute of Technology joins France to host regional Science and Climate Change Conference in 2015, as prelude to global COP 21

    AIT President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai confirmed last week that AIT will co-organize and host a regional conference on science and climate change in Bangkok. The event is expected to take place in mid-year and will be focused on ASEAN countries and other countries in the region.

    The new EU-funded Myanmar National Crisis Management Center was inaugurated on 11 June in Nay Pyi Taw in the presence of Union Minister for Home Affairs, U Ko Ko, Head of the EU Delegation in Myanmar, Ambassador Roland Kobia, Agostino Miozzo, Managing Director for Crisis Response in the European External Action Service (EEAS) and M. André de Bussy, French regional councelor for cooperation with ASEAN.
